I love cats, so I’ve always thought cat people looked cool. As a kid, I’d admire the cover art of Psion and Catspaw in the bookstore. When I played the Phantasy Star series, I noted the cat-women who followed in Myau’s footsteps. Later on I thought the Puma androids in the Tank Police cartoon looked cool.
I also thought genetically engineered cat people could fill the role of “elves” in a futuristic setting. In fiction, both cat people and elves often have large eyes, pointed ears, slender forms, beautiful features, uncanny grace and excellent night vision.
I had drawn a few images of a cat girl in the backgrounds of earlier pages, but I finally broke down and drew a cat girl front-and-center on this page.
