I drew this page and the next one in 2008 for the Lore, Vol. 1 trade paperback, to smooth out the flow between Lore #6 and Lore #7.
I drew both pages in Manga Studio 3.0 EX on a Motion Computing LE1600 TabletPC. However, I did not use any grayscale tones, opting for pure black-and-white. I hoped this would help the new pages blend with the art style I drew in the mid-90′s on Bristol board.
Manga Studio EX still came in handy even without the grayscale tones. I reused backgrounds from panel to panel, took advantage of the Perspective ruler, copied and flipped character artwork to create a “reflection” in the mirror and imported and rendered a 3d bedpost modeled in LightWave. I used similar techniques in the mid-90′s with a Xerox machine, an X-Acto knife and rubber cement, but Manga Studio does the same work faster and cleaner.
