I crammed a lot into the fifth panel, but it’s not a new idea.
I remember reading similar speculation about the X-Men comic’s Nightcrawler. Folks pointed out that Nightcrawler could not be a first-generation mutant, because of his multiple mutant traits. What are the odds of two normal parents having a child with:
- unusual coloration (blue skin and yellow eyes)
- deformed hands and feet
- teleportation
- prehensile tail
- the ability to stick to any surface like a gecko
A child could be born with one of those amazing traits, but the chances of landing all of those amazing traits in one mutation would be slim. So, the X-Men comics hinted early on that Nightcrawler had at least one mutant parent, possibly the blue-skinned Mystique.

The Sci-Fi channel recently changed its name to “SyFy.” Pity.
